Summer Fun

What are my children are in the bathtub with their clothes on, reading books to their teddy's? Just one of the fun ideas the preschool gave us to prevent the "summer slide". Each day of the work week they have a cute little thing to do.

Other summer updates:

Kobe has completed reading his 12 phonics books, he's doing so great sounding out words, and remembering a lot of them. Kobe also just completed swimming lessons in which he made major improvements, jumping off the diving board, swimming on his own, and even tipping the canoe. He's also been taking care of his little brother now that they are sharing a room, taking him potty when they wake up, getting his teddy bear, calling him buddy. He's growing into a big boy.

Brennan is also enjoying the summer, working on writing the letter B for his name (it will be a lot different having one of the youngest preschoolers vs the oldest), he is working on cutting with sissors, and learning the last few letters of the alphabet. He already knows his shapes, colors, and numbers. Didn't we learn this stuff in kindergarten? He also loves to copy whatever Kobe does, which of course drives Kobe crazy!

We are all looking forward to getting away next week, daddy is even leaving his blackberry at home!

Kelly Park

Brennan Sydnie Kobe getting really wet, giggling, having fun! Nothing better than ending a hot busy day at Kelly park followed by ice cream at McD's. Kobe and Brennan's cousin's are staying the night - Troy took Noah to the twins game so the rest of us headed to cool off! How much fun can you pack in a day? Donating stuff to the homeless, swimming lessons, playing at the park, riding scooters, swimming/slip-n-slide, playing Life, building a huge fort, painting, twins game, water park, ice cream. Whew, I'm exhausted.

Grandma and Grandpa (with the tractors)

We had a relaxing overnight stay at my parents this weekend, starting with a boat ride . . .
and a little fun in the corn - yes, corn loves this 80 degree heat - thus the record height (this stuff looks to be at least 8 feet high, and the greenest around, nice work dad)!!!

Ice Cream Music?

When you hear the music, kids come running . . .
there are big decisions to be made . . .
followed by sticky smiling faces!

NEWS FLASH

Training wheels are off!!!
Five minutes later, my Kobe is riding a bike! Can it be this easy?? I barely had time to get my camera! This is all he wants to do now, every chance he gets.

mommy/kobe dates

My little Kobe is not so little anymore - starting kindergarten this year, he's such a good helper, trying to talk like an adult, always coming up with new plans, strategies, brainstorms, following directions to build his own legos, comforting his little brother during a daytime thunder storm, 100 piece puzzles, telling me what we need at the grocery store, etc. I thought I would miss the "needy" stage, but I kind of like this stage! It's neat seeing the boy he's becoming. We've been having some date nights, going to a play with his friend samantha (yes, us mom's are trying to hook them up), and this pic is his proud smile after a shopping trip just Kobe and mom, picking out his own backpack for school, and some sunglasses for the summer! I will, however, miss being called mommy and mama - "mom" is just not the same.

Spring Soccer 2010

The post game soccer team "good game" handshake that my hubby started.
Wow, has it been that long since I updated the blog? Kobe participated in soccer again this year. He made major improvements this year, he made 4 goals in just one game, he always gave 100 percent running as fast as he could to turn around the ball, and it must have paid off, because their team was undefeated! Go Kobe. Stay tuned for 2011 when both boys can play!
