What happened to learning to read in first grade?? Kobe's been really needing things to keep him busy, so I bought some phonics books (curious george, since we've been into getting those books from the library lately). He read the first 12 page book in 3-4 days!! I couldn't believe how fast he picked it up, sounding out the words like nothing - we're now half way through book 2. Wow!! He is either just brilliant, or really ready to read, maybe a little of both! :)
